Donor Spotlight: Autism Speaks
As a proud Autism Speaks grant recipient, the Binder Autism Center at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Health Foundation recently participated in an Autism Speaks Grantee Connect Webinar. This virtual town hall brought together other grantee organizations to learn more about the resources Autism Speaks has made available to the autism community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, the Binder Autism Center (BAC) was one of three programs highlighted during the webinar. Pamela Martorana, Manager of St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, shared how the BAC pivoted to offering a virtual summer camp program for learners and their families. Importantly, this year’s summer camp was supported through a generous Norma and Malcolm Baker Recreation Program Grant from Autism Speaks. Families stopped by the BAC weekly to pick up supplies and then joined virtual sessions from home. Program components included cooking classes, yoga/movement, science, social skills, and more!
